What Our Lockout Service Covers for Hackney Homes and Flats
A residential lockout can involve almost any door configuration found in Hackney's mix of Victorian terraces, Edwardian conversions, 1960s council blocks and newer-build developments. The most common scenarios our technicians attend are: front doors fitted with a Yale-type nightlatch — often locked by the spring catch when someone steps outside without a key; 5-lever mortice deadlocks that have been double-locked from outside and whose key is lost or broken inside; uPVC and composite doors with euro cylinder multipoint locking systems; communal entrance doors to blocks of flats where the fob or key has been lost; and timber back doors or French doors that have jammed or whose lock mechanism has failed. Each situation is different, which is why we assess the specific door, lock and circumstances when we arrive rather than applying a one-size approach.
Flats bring their own layer of complexity. If you live in a block, you may be locked out at the communal entrance, at your own front door, or both. We handle both levels and, where a managing agent or housing association is responsible for the communal entrance, we can work alongside them or on the tenant's own door independently. If you are a landlord with a tenant locked out in Hackney E8, E9 or surrounding postcodes, calling us directly is usually faster than waiting for a chain of calls to resolve itself.
